In plain words
This sunlight called Prajñāna clears away the enveloping mist of Ajñāna. So knowledge teaches that man should put away this Ahaṅkāra, this Ajñāna and this false learning, study the true learning, the learning of the Ātma, and take shape as a true man.
Purity and sacrifice are the chief marks of education
Knowledge does not mean merely developing scientific and technical learning. It must shape man into a true man. That is what is special in this knowledge. Forgetting this special principle, entering into evil feelings and sinking in arrogance, man forgets his own true nature. This is not the right value of education. It must not be the aim of education. It must teach breadth of heart, sacredness and purity. Purity and sacrifice are the chief marks of education. Without this spirit of sacrifice, humanness is rooted out. Prema is its support. Where is Prema? It is in our own heart. The chief duty of today is that every man should develop the Prema in his heart, fill his family with Prema through it, and set about making society grow through the family, the village through society, the state through the village, the country through the state, and the universe through the country. At this time, when the whole world is sinking and rotting with unrest of many kinds, the chief duty of every student is to take part in service, grow the principle of Prema, develop divinity, and serve with a feeling for God.
Man cannot live forgetting society
"Īśāvāsyam idaṃ sarvam." It is most necessary to recognise the truth that the divine is in all. Selfishness is turning man into a monstrous ghost. Selfishness, however long it lasts, only harms a man and can never help him. The duty of this education is to go from the selfishness of "I" to the collective principle of "we".
