The students do not have their hands full of work, and the teachers do not have their hands full of work! The scientist achieves everything, but is he not unable to master himself alone? First of all they must master themselves.
Freedom for the field of education
If today's system of education is to come onto the right path, there is only one remedy for it. You must not take it in any other way. Everyone must keep the welfare of the country in view. Leaving aside our individual feelings, we must inquire so as to discover the form of the whole. An individual cannot leave society and live alone. So we must develop an individuality whose form is the whole. The right system of education is the protection of society. When we nurture education well, protection comes to the country. What must we do if we are to protect education and nurture it well? I am thinking of it with a good heart. I hope for the peace of the country. Wishing for the progress of the sacred people of Bhārata, I am searching for the way to lead them to a high state. If education based not on a selfish Prema of society but on a divine Prema full of sacrifice is to spread freely throughout the world, the field of education must be separated from the government. In the way the courts of justice are developing independently, education too must be independent in the same way. For this, we must set up a body, with some educationists and people of experience, at a level of authority able to look into what is good and bad in it. If we put this in the hands of the government, it is used for their own advantage and their own selfish ends, and a situation arises contrary to the aims of the educational institution.
Look at a small example! To get a medical seat one has to pay two or three lakhs. Wanting to give their children an education, parents bear hardship and loss and pay three lakhs apiece as a levy! Merely getting a seat is of no benefit. One should not rejoice that a seat has been got. Either the parents or the teachers are spoiling the children.
