In plain words
In the same way, if we are wholly immersed in the sacred, supreme principle of Prema, we are in a state where we cannot say ‘It is like this, it is like that.’ We must recognise that teaching at length about the principle of divinity, or describing it, are things that happen before fullness is recognised. Those who have drunk fully of the nectar of God's Prema do not try to describe it. Above all, we must try to trample down the distorted form of the mind. Until we become free of agitation, the state free of worry does not come. We must do the sādhana needed to develop equanimity in hardships and losses, in attachment and hatred, in joy and sorrow. The settled teaching is that equanimity alone is yoga. Equanimity itself is Advaita. It establishes oneness. That is the foremost Jñāna. ‘Advaita darśanaṃ jñānam,’ they said. We must try to recognise divinity in all, everywhere.
I have said before, ‘All the ups and downs that happen in man's life come only from the mind's agitations.’ ‘Manayeva manuṣyāṇāṃ kāraṇaṃ bandhamokṣayoḥ’: the mind alone is the cause of bondage and of Mokṣa. However many ages pass, however many worlds move, if the mind does not change, everything is left as mere delusion. We must recognise that what makes the mind forget itself and what delights the heart is the principle of the Ātma. Such divinity is not seen by the eye, not heard by the ears, not felt by the mind. To the heart alone it becomes known. That itself is the principle of man. We must make the effort needed to contemplate that principle of Śabda Brahman in the heart and to see it there, unceasingly, always, everywhere, at all times.
Vidhi and Vidhātā
For life in this world some rules are most necessary. Without those rules we cannot live a moral life. These rules are most necessary for fostering and practising morality and honesty. The maharṣis, through many experiences, recognised the reckonings of time. In the Mahābhārata, in the Ādi Parva, in the story of Udaṅka, there is an account of the One whose form is the year.
