In plain words
Today men do not understand what virtue means. They do not even try to understand this principle of virtue. Even when they try, they understand it in a perverted way. So today man has lost his very humanness, and in conduct lower even than the demonic he wastes his life. Showing and displaying only the outward form of man, he forgets his own principle of the Ātma, which is his divinity. So wherever you look, wherever you listen, the world is filled with a kind of fear and confusion over achieving things by effort. What is the root cause of today's wars, of this fear and confusion, of famines and scarcity? Our conduct itself. When we have right conduct, this Prakṛti too keeps giving the right result. We are going through this, which has turned out at odds with the words we speak and the work we do. The proper study of mankind is man. Today we are making no effort at all to recognise this principle.
Though man today has gained wide strength in technical science, this moral value is falling day by day. Without this moral life, this does not even deserve to be called life. Our culture itself made known the spiritual life together with the moral life. To recognise such a culture we must study the learning of Sanskrit. In Germany, in Russia, in America and such regions too, many efforts are being made, of necessity, in many universities, to study this Sanskrit in order to know the books of the Veda carried off from this Bhārata. All our ancient books were written in Sanskrit alone.
