In plain words

By our doing it this way, from now on all the enthusiasm and zeal of these organisations will dwindle further. All the rest may lose heart, saying, "It did not come to our district, it did not come to our villages; what use is it for us to do it?" If, in the whole country, it is given to one village, you can think for yourselves what unrest the people of the other villages will feel. Whatever mistakes have happened till now have happened. You must remove from yourselves this mad feeling that service is merely something done for someone else. You must feel the broad feeling that you are doing service to yourselves. Whatever good one does to others, one must feel it as good done to oneself. Taking part in service of that kind, putting away numbers like "so many" and "that many", you must take part in it as "This is my duty". So today they have started something called a workshop. A shop means only something that is for show. We must not make a show of this work. We must experience it with the heart. All of you who are workers must take part in it with enthusiasm and zeal. The young people of today are the ones who will uplift the Bhārata to come. We must remove the attachment and possessiveness that have spread over the country and make good qualities of character grow in these young people: affection, compassion, kindness and sacrifice.

From now on State Presidents must visit every village. When one bears the responsibility oneself, it becomes possible to bring about any amount of progress. One who cannot do that must say that he cannot. Sai asks only for quality; He is not asking for quantity. So from now on we must take part in it with enthusiasm and zeal and try to face it with fitting courage and steadiness. These are the good qualities that are needed. Japa, dhyāna, yoga, smaraṇa, pārāyaṇa: all such things we are doing. But without sacrifice, kindness, Prema, forbearance and sympathy, which are their foundation, what can we achieve with this japa? Only when we develop good qualities does our sādhana settle at its proper level. Without those good qualities, however long you sit in dhyāna, you will experience restlessness, but Praśānti you will not gain in the least. Cittasyaśuddhaye karmaḥ. Through the karmas you do, purity of citta must come. Only through purity of citta does self-confidence come. Only through self-confidence do we experience Ānanda. Without purity of citta, how can self-confidence come? So today we are entering only on a narrow path. We must develop a broad outlook. Every office-bearer must test himself: "Having joined this Sathya Sai Organisation, what am I doing, how far am I doing it, am I doing it to my own satisfaction or not?"
