In plain words

Today technological science has grown far and wide. But it has gone on bringing people many kinds of comforts and conveniences. Yet however much comfort, however much help, however many gains it may have rested on, many times that much loss, suffering and some kinds of sorrow keep on growing. Through this technological science it is harm, more than help, that keeps on growing. There is no fault in this science. But the cause of it is that Viveka is wholly wanting in the way we use it. Only when there is Viveka along with science can we put this kind of technology to good use. This is the modern age of civilisation. But because some discords of many kinds have come into this age, it makes us forget the Divinity that is within humanity. Man hopes that the life of today should be steeped in a kind of enjoyment alone, that is, in pleasure and happiness. But contrary to this thought, what he experiences is hardship. Yet man makes no proper effort to find out what the cause of this is. He wastes the whole of his life in a life of luxury itself. He cannot recognise the right values of daily life. What are the strange values of today's age? Cinemas and aeroplanes have multiplied. Radios and videos have multiplied. Telegrams and telephones have multiplied. Because conveniences of this kind have multiplied, man is left with a mind that knows no rest. The cost of living keeps on growing and growing. Unable to bear this expense, man is tossed about in confusions of many kinds. On one side, the fear of war. On the other side, the fear of famine and dearth. The root cause of all these is science itself. Man goes on passing his life, every single moment, in fear and confusion. Staying at home alone is nothing but fear. Going outside is nothing but fear. Whatever task one wants to do, there is nothing but fear. Security has vanished. Ānanda has gone very far away. In despair and dejection man is sinking down and rotting away. The root cause of all this is that expense has grown, economically, in many ways. And then, through injustice, wrongdoing, misconduct and Asatya, man is walking somewhat off the path. This alone is the root cause of the growth of this corruption.
