In plain words
One who lives in the world must first become a human being; one who goes on praising the evil deeds of demons is a fool; to learn Brahmavidyā and find the spiritual here, this is the path to Rāja Yoga: this is the word Sai speaks.
Embodiments of Prema!
In the world, not every living being understands what the supreme purpose of life is. Many do not even feel the pain of not understanding it. In one out of a hundred, one out of ten million, such a feeling arises. Yet the first step to life's highest goal is a stomach full of food, eyes full of sleep, a body full of clothes, a house full of children. This is what young people take as the highest goal. A bright, lively wife, glittering goods and vehicles: this itself is human life, they think, and they swell with joy. This is true to some extent. The mind is not filled just because the stomach is full. Life does not ripen.
Man's nature is not merely to eat and sit idle. Having eaten, he must move about. Having eaten, he must work. He must inquire: why, where and in what way am I working? In these works he must make goodness grow. He must share it with others. People take this as the highest goal of worldly life. What the eye sees, what the ear hears, what the mind feels, what charms the heart: this is the outer world. This is the change of the senses. Beyond these senses is Manas. Greater than Manas is Buddhi. What drives Buddhi is the Ātma. Only when the principle of the Ātma is recognised does humanness reach its fulfilment.
Of all the senses, the sense of speech is the most powerful. So if we first restrain the sense of speech, we will have mastered nearly all the senses as well. For the organ of speech, eating and drinking are the chief aim. People also speak of this as food and speech. We must try to recognise to some extent how this organ of speech works. The working of all the senses is merged in the sense of speech. That is why we must try to join speech to Manas. In short, we must keep our speech under control as far as possible. Only then will the mind try to speak.
