In plain words
"Kṛṣṇa, You have come back safe; that is enough for us," they said. Truly, they forgot entirely the things that concerned themselves. Only when there is great Prema for Kṛṣṇa does one wish so much for Kṛṣṇa's safety. Dharmaja first embraced Him. Then Arjuna and Bhīma. With tears of joy they embrace Him. Nakula and Sahadeva went too, both of them. The young ones, one on one side and the other on the other side, clung to Kṛṣṇa. Those brothers are speaking. Sahadeva is the youngest of them all. "Our brother-in-law has come back safe: that alone is worth ten thousand. I did not like at all sending You as envoy. But at the time of setting out, to say 'Do not go' might seem a bad omen or something; and the elders, Dharmaja, Arjuna and Bhīma too, had agreed. But until You came back I was afraid. For me, if peace is made, well and good; if war comes, well and good; if my life goes, so be it. My Kṛṣṇa must be safe," he said. Such was the Prema the Pāṇḍavas lived in.
'Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati': in keeping with the hearts of those devotees, God too abides in the same feeling. Keeping in His resolve the safety of devotees, the progress of devotees and the welfare of the world, Kṛṣṇa enters even into a small matter, without weighing 'this is good, this is bad' or 'is this fit to be done, is this unfit to be done'. He pays no heed at all to this world's honour and standing. His duty is the protection of devotees, to fulfil the heart's wishes of devotees. It may be beyond measure, it may be great. In your eyes one thing is small and another great, but in God's creation all are equal. To put an end to wrong, to set people on the good path, He gives the human ideal in many ways and leads them into the high path of God. It may enter your mind: should God do such little tasks, should He enter into such small tasks? Because you have the world's way of seeing, you have the difference of small and great. Because God's way of seeing is Prema, there is no difference of small and great at all.
Arjuna fell into deep despair. He no longer wished to live at all. He resolved, "I will end my life with this very day." He was trying to take his own life. Kṛṣṇa, who knows all, saw it that day and went to Arjuna's house for a meal. He said to Arjuna, "Today I will eat in your house." "Arjuna, I have come in such haste only to tell you something," He said. Kṛṣṇa waited for the moment when Subhadrā and all the rest were seated. He called him into a room apart. He shut the door fast. He bent down and took a firm hold of Arjuna's feet. "Swami, what wrong is this? What sin have I committed? Why are You doing this?" he said. "Arjuna, Phalguna, Pārtha, Kirīṭi, Śvetavāhana, Bībhatsa, Vijaya, Savyasāci: having earned all these titles, it is not good for you to take to this wretched suicide," He said.
