In plain words
Before this, many people formed many mad notions that the Sathya Sai Schools and Higher Education were all bound up with one religion. No, no. It is joined with a unity that embraces the world. It is the harmony of all religions. It is the blending of all religions. It belongs to the heart. Such a Dharma, accepted by all religions, we must teach today. Grow that kind of feeling of Prema. Through this feeling of Prema alone we can achieve any task, however great. Today we are achieving a great deal. We are teaching many kinds of learning. But are those kinds of learning of any use today? Many are learning chemistry, botany, zoology, any number of subjects. But what they study is one thing, and what they live in life is another. Many pass MBBS and work as bus drivers. They pass as engineers and work as hotel managers. These studies too are not bearing fruit. What use is it if we put these Human Values into what we study? We must study only what we put into practice. So put every one of them, Satya, Dharma, Śānti and Prema, into practice. It is by this practice that you must grow. As far as possible, we must reflect on what the elders say and, through it, grow our human values. However much you study, never put away your faith in God. If you have let go of God, you become one who has let go of life itself. Your very breath of life is God. Your very life is God. Everything is God. Whatever karmas you do with the feeling of God, they become Human Values. Without that, however much you do in an artificial way, there is no use.
Do everything with purity of all three instruments. Practise with mind, speech and action. All the vice-chancellors gathered here today have made their resolutions with sacred feelings. They are very pure-hearted. They have full faith that human values must be grown. As far as possible they are striving to use this in the right way within their institutions. But they have no full freedom. I hope that, as far as possible, they will set about achieving it without losing heart at all. God has been installed in their hearts. Let them take refuge in it. Let them follow it. They will surely fulfil their wish. Embodiments of Prema gathered here! Not only here, all of you, wherever you may be: our true value is this, that we must believe in God, our Lord, alone. If you strengthen that faith, all values come and gather in it. In sorrows and in joys, keep God in your thoughts. Any affliction, however severe, can be overcome. So sing of God, worship Him, remember Him, and cross over.
