Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Carry out your own duty. In our organisations, from this day on, put far from you at least this evil intent that craves money. We want no connection at all with money. Our connection is with service. If you grow good saṅkalpa alone, the Lordship of All itself will grant you everything. So, if you want to give contributions, or if you want to do any other service in every way for many people, are there not people with money among us? Of those who have it, someone, one or two, can help with it, and we can achieve that task, can we not? In the Sai organisations there is no one without money. But there are many who are poor even though they have money. The one who has money and does not put it to good use is the poor man. We must not lead such a poor life. We must lead a life of sacrifice. The Sai organisations are growing day by day. We must push these greeds far away. That is why, from this day on, in our organisations we must grow service, Bhakti, sacrifice and the spirit of forbearance. When it is like this, there will be no room at all among us for quarrels or differences. If there are some kinds of differences of opinion today, these have begun among people through money alone.

We must recognise one more thing too. Wielding authority with the words ‘I am an office bearer’ must have no place in our organisations. All are only servants. Truly, if we are holding this gathering today, this is a most sacred gathering. Workers are those who perform karmas. What does ‘Active workers’ mean? This is a gathering of those who perform karmas. Before this we held so many: some State Presidents meeting or other, and office bearers meetings too. All of them were useless. In them not a single one who does work came before My eyes. Getting all of them to do the work, we proudly claim, ‘I did it.’ We must put such evil intentions far from us. Workers alone are dear to Me. One who works is what is wanted. So from this day, whoever there is who does not work, remove him. If there are ten people who work, that is enough. So what must be decided in this gathering of ours is this: we want people who work. Their wealth, their position, their fame or ill fame: with that we have no business at all. We must have people who work. All must become nothing but people who work. One who does no work and merely talks has no right even to be in this organisation. Those who criticise one another must not be in this organisation. One who wields authority with Ahaṅkāra must not be there at all. Each must work according to his strength and show it. That is why: “I must become the servant of servants! I must do nothing but service to Your servants!” he said. So we must become servants of servants. Only then can we take shape as servants of God. So from this day we must give up reviling others.
