Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must love all as brothers. We must grow the faith that God is in all. We must do service that has no connection with money. That itself is the chief ideal of the Sathya Sai organisations.

Keep one more thing in mind too. Some are members in three or four organisations each. They are office holders. That is, not in the Sai organisations alone: in one organisation he is a president. In another organisation he is yet another president. In another organisation he is secretary. In the Sathya Sai organisation he is an office holder. One who is in these three organisations, because he keeps a link with this organisation, cannot complete any work at all. Whoever it may be, be it the Sathya Sai organisation or some other organisation, wherever he works, he must carry out his own duty well. One who has links with four organisations cannot satisfy any organisation. So one who is in such organisations need not join the Sathya Sai organisations. Within the Sathya Sai organisations, be in however many of them, be in the Sevā Dal, be in the satsaṅga too, be in the study circle: you may be in however many of these. But to be a member in some second organisation is not possible. It is not out of ill will that one who has been in another organisation for many days must not be in this one. He cannot carry out his duty properly in that organisation. Nor can he be properly in this organisation either. You must take up any one thing only and try to carry it out fully, to full satisfaction. You all know what danger riding on two horses brings. So if we are in two organisations, we cannot complete any work at all. We become members in organisations for some authority, for name and prestige, but these can only be called a kind of bad quality. All of you have come today as workers. All the work is happening through you alone. All the tasks that have flourished today have happened through you alone. Not one of these happened through the office holders. Truly, your lives are fulfilled. Swami knows with what spirit of sacrifice you are doing this service. You know it. For Me this service alone is enough. These servants alone are enough. There is no quality greater than this sacrifice. There is no wealth greater than this. Only those who sacrifice are yogis to God. But you must not try to drop out of this, saying, ‘Swami spoke so harshly.’ Staying in it, you must achieve the work. This is said only for your good. If you do all the service and earn great fame, I gain nothing from it. If you keep away without doing service, I lose nothing. This welfare and this loss are yours alone. So stay in service itself, take a firm hold, and earn the courage and daring fit to achieve this.
