In plain words
All the many kinds of learning are like the science of cooking; Bhakti alone is like the dish itself. Leave the dish, and what is the science of cooking for? Leave Bhakti, and why any other interest?
A race for money, a race to the office, a race for learning, a race for the bus; for the supreme good they cannot run. Do not forget a good word such as this.
Students!
The universe itself is one great school. Every living being in it is a student. Each student follows a path of his own and takes a degree of his own kind, in a subject of his own. In an ordinary college there are many kinds of subjects, but students choose only the subjects that concern them. Within these subjects there are many groups. One says P.C.M. Another takes P.C.Z. In this way they choose arts, science or commerce, each according to his own taste. But whatever path they follow, there is one thing that is, for all of them, the single direction, the goal and the glory. That is taking the degree called the Prema of God. Of those who join the army, one may be a barber. One may be a dhobi. One may be a watchman. Another may be a sepoy. Another may be a colonel. Yet another may become a major. Different as their posts may be, two things are essential for all of them: firing a gun and marching on parade!
