In plain words
Where there is Faith there is Devotion Where there is Devotion there is Purity Where there is Purity there is God Where there is God there is Bliss.
If a human being is to experience Ānanda, faith is utterly necessary. To look for a reason for faith is nothing but Ajñāna. Faith itself is the life of every human being. Only one who has faith is a human being. Mā-na-va means one who has faith. Mānava has another meaning as well. This word makes known man's fullness and his timelessness: that man is not someone who has come newly into the world just now. Mā means not. Nava means new. Mānava means one who is not new. He has been coming through many, many births. So he is old, and not new. In the word mānava, mā means Ajñāna. Na means without, va means conducting oneself. One who conducts himself without Ajñāna, he alone is a human being.
The reason is this: man holds within him a sacred principle made of the five elements. If we inquire scientifically, there are hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon in man. Man is the blending of these four. The joining of these four is the very principle of Prema. The scientists of today split the principle of Prema and proclaim only the principle of matter. Splitting of love is science and Spirit of love is spirituality. They come upon matter only because they split Prema. The scientist does not know Prema. The scientist does not know purity. All they have is discrimination, the power of inquiry.
Today science and spirituality run on principles wholly opposed to each other. Today they do not examine in what way matter and energy exist. Their axiom is that the nature of matter changes into energy, and the nature of energy changes into matter. But these two cannot be divided: they are bound together inseparably, and they rest on each other. Separating them is the very thing that gives rise to doubts, confusion and depressions. What new thing have the scientists of today discovered? All they have discovered is old. Gravity, for example. This gravity has been there from the beginning of creation. Newton pointed out that it was there. He discovered only what was already there. Even before he discovered it, the force of gravitation was there. Matter and energy began at the very beginning of creation. When you change the nature of the mind, it comes forth in the form of energy. When you turn the mind into divinity, it changes into energy.
