In plain words
Before, you may have been getting up from sleep at nine or ten o'clock. But in our hostel you must get up at four o'clock. You must bathe in cold water. You must take part in everything, in sports or in anything else. You must attend to every matter. We must clean our rooms ourselves. We must clean our vessels ourselves. We must make clean the place where we stay. All these are vital for the future. Only then: awareness is life. To know everything is our life. To go into one subject only and run down another subject: this becomes a narrow mind. You must make some acquaintance with everything. Not only that, you must live well with every person. Whatever differences of opinion one may have with another, we must never set out to quarrel. We must grow such a spirit of patience.
Students! Not merely saying it, we must enter on the path of doing it and showing it. Here spirituality is the great support of everything. Self-confidence is most essential for every man. Without it we cannot make our life shine in anything. We must strengthen such confidence. Above all, the MBA Boys. As I said before, you must develop the good treasures. Mastery of the senses. You must see that you do not see evil, do not hear evil, do not speak evil, do not think evil, do not do evil. The reason is this: these MBA Boys, if they have no mastery of the senses, go into many factories, go into industries, and enter management there. Without such mastery of the senses they will have to take blows among the workers. You must keep your tongue well guarded; otherwise a fine match will take place. You MBA boys must recognise this well. Somehow, I will go as a manager, I will sit in an Aircondition room, I will control all the labour: how will you control them? You who cannot control your own senses, how can you control labour? Only on the day you first bring yourself under control do you become fit to control another. So we must keep the future of our life in view today. For this, the spiritual is most essential. Faith in God is very necessary. We must recognise the principle of these three.
Love of God, fear of sin, morality in society: these we must nourish. Only when these three are there can you show forth a true ideal. Students! We must not enter into too much talk. Today we make a great show in words, but we show nothing at all in deeds. What I want is a heart without words.
