Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

It is made of three sides. This Prema does not seek a result. Fear enters a person only when his Prema seeks a result. For one who gives Prema without desire for its fruit, there is no such thing as fear. Prema only gives; it knows nothing of taking. Fear does not enter such Prema. For Prema, Prema itself is the result. These three alone are the firm strengths of true Prema. But Prema today looks for a result. It is filled with fear and confusion. We love with some aim set before us. If we set transient, impermanent things as the aims of our Prema, just this kind of life befalls us. For our Prema, we must keep Prema itself as the aim. Prema is eternal. You are the embodiment of Prema, the embodiment of Satya, the embodiment of God. Only when we believe this truth firmly and make a fitting effort for it will our Prema and our life be blessed and fulfilled. We become those who have rightly recognised the world.

Studies that do not teach gratitude are worthless

The studies we have studied, the conduct we have followed, the deeds we have done, the sights we have seen, the things we have heard, the resolves we have thought: we must believe all of it to be divinity itself. This is the true meaning of Śaraṇāgati. What we have seen with the eyes, heard with the ears and experienced with the mind: all of this we must consider as signs of divinity. We must firmly believe the truth, ‘God is in every person.’ We must always be ready to show fitting gratitude for these fruits that God has given. For ages God has been giving this world the breath of life and protecting our lives. If you set up a big fan, its breeze goes only some little distance, but the mighty wind God sends sets the whole world swaying at once.
