In plain words
So through this it gives skill of the intellect in humanness. Not only that: it brings health to the body. He becomes very clever. Memory power grows. The body becomes strong. It sees to it that bad feelings do not come in. As these thoughts get inside, old age begins in young age itself. So the cause of our old age is thoughts. Look at a great many children. How should these children be? If you took these children and struck them against a boulder, the boulder should break. Their strength should be like that. But they are not like that. Small children, fourteen years, sixteen years: what has become of them! How sturdy and contented they ought to be! This is precisely what true bodily vigour is. So if you are to become healthy and wealthy, you must work. In this work, you must practise control of the senses. That itself is our yoga. ‘Yogaḥ cittavṛtti nirodhakaḥ’: controlling the senses is yoga, they said. Letting the senses go in wherever they please is bhoga, they said. Through this bhoga, disease comes upon us. Let us see to it that that disease does not come. We must study for some time, play for some time, sing for some time. In this way we must do some service. When young men grow up well in this way, we need not join any military at all. From here one can go into war and fight. … In this military training there are two things everyone must learn. One is the parade. The second is gun shooting. These two everyone must know, the dhobi, the barber, the watchman, every single one. If a man comes as a barber, he too must know them. He too must take part in the parade.
In the same way, in this world, to fight with these qualities, we must know two things. They are precisely love of God and fear of sin. If you have these two, you will shine wherever you are. These two are Human values. Only when there is fear of sin will you not step into sin. Only when there is love of God will you not fall into sorrow. Because you have the Prema of God, full and abundant.
Students! I bring My talk to a close hoping and blessing that, along with your studies, your conduct and your thinking, you will foster this love of God and fear of sin, and become embodiments of the ideal for the country.
