Today workers are very much needed. Workers: today all of you are here. Office bearers, state presidents. Among these there is no one who does the work. All of them keep on talking. That too has its place. We must give training to those who do the work. There must be a master. There must be servants. If the master is one who knows things rightly, the servants can work well; but if the masters know nothing, these people will cheat them. The master must have more intelligence than the workers and must be one who knows that work. So we too must become workers. Now and then I take classes for our MBA boys, sunday after sunday. Sirs, if you think, ‘I have passed my MBA, I will be in management,’ and sit in an aircondition room, there is no use in it. Going round to all the workers is itself communication; looking at everything, how the workers are working, how this production is going, how what is made should be collected, how this market value stands, this connection with all of them: this is true awareness. Communication must be good. Communication does not mean merely talking on the phone. Understanding is communication. So our employers and the workers too must have that communication well. Before any work, we must make ready beforehand whatever concerns that work. ‘Production, production,’ they say. Merely having production is of no use. For it: are the right workers in it or not, is there the raw material fit for this work or not, is there the current supply it needs or not, is there the water it needs, all that it needs, or not, are the machines for all these in order or not: all of these belong to that communication. So if … thinks ‘state president’, that alone is not enough. He must make known the relationship of all these organisation… , teach them well, and have the strength and ability to … develop that master plan. Each person must be like a great and principal machine. In that machine, screws, bolts, nuts, everything must be in good condition. First of all we must examine ourselves. We must look and see: am I doing what I said or not, is all that I have in mind right within my heart or not, am I carrying out my responsibility properly or not. This connection must be personal. Today it is not personal; between one and another there is someone else. If the one in between cannot pass on the communication properly, everything is spoiled. So in this way, first of all, we must test our own strength and ability.
