In plain words
Embodiments of Prema! Why am I telling you all this? Because truly this is a great sādhana. This is the sādhana by which we cross over. You may not be able to do any dhyāna, any bhajans, anything at all. This service itself is true sādhana for us. Even if we do not do it ourselves, if we get ten people to do it, that itself is great sādhana. How great must he be who gets so many to do good work! That too is our own greatness. There is something else too about which I need to warn you a little. In some states they are holding what they call seminars. These are turning merely into some seminars without meaning. Calling ten people somehow and having ten people give lectures: this is the seminar. Spending money in this way is not good. Have the work done by those who live there. Why do you waste these fares by calling people from here and there? And as for those who come, if we look, it is one and the same tape recorder. They keep repeating what they have already said. Nothing new ever comes from them. Truly, speak in Madras, speak in Bangalore, speak in Kerala, go anywhere and see: … tape recorder; if you take this tape recorder, not even the words differ. One and the same speech. They have learned some of these by heart. These are of no use. They must give us examples that suit that place, that situation and that service. More than that, one must speak of what lies in our own experience, of one's own experience. They must not recite to us all that this one and that one have done. So, besides this, you need not speak much about Swami either. If you tell of the work you do, then the greatness of Swami will surely come. If you say, ‘My Swami is like this, like that,’ and fall short in what you do, it will look like something the missionaries do. Speak little about Swami and much about your own experiences. Do much service. Only then will they recognise the principle of Swami well.
More than this, the Sathya Sai Trust, the Sathya Sai Organisations and the many other related bodies must all work together in harmony. In name they are different, but all of them belong to Sathya Sai Himself. If we cannot show this kind of unity even in our own organisation, how will we grow outside? So when some differences arise among us, what are these devotees like? Some gather on that side and some on this side. Here differences arise, little by little. Groups must not form. Little by little it turns into a group. … kind of division must not be among us at all. Misunderstandings may arise between one and another, but we must adjust to one another, understand one another and increase our unity. Being human, some misunderstandings do come. But we must adjust. In our organisation that is the true and chief sādhana.
