In plain words

So only a man with a certain eagerness to enter the path of Satya can recognise this principle of Satya.

At birth they wept; at death they will weep; from day to day they weep over this and that; when Dharma declined, did they weep to raise it up? All the senseless weeping, they wept for weeping's sake.

So what are we weeping for? We are not weeping to raise ourselves up. Nor are we weeping to raise up Dharma. When others suffer, are you weeping to protect them? Not for that either. They weep without knowing themselves what they weep for. Such weepings are what we weep. Even weeping should have a reason. No effect can come about without a cause. In the same way the young people of today all stuff their heads with needless matters, but we do not try to put into our heads the needful matter that is eternally true.

So when we have filled ourselves with feelings like these, however good a feeling may come to us, there is no room for it here.

Into an empty head anything at all can go; a head filled with this and that cannot be filled; can heads full of Kali's teachings ever be emptied? Unless the head is emptied, can good deeds fill it in this world?

… you must empty out of your head everything you have filled it with. Only then can you fill it with holy things. That is what you take for eternal truths and are filling in. That is what you believe to be your riches and comforts, and you use it in many ways. Students! Those are not your riches and comforts. They are riches of disease. … pleasures: whatever we long for as pleasures, these pleasures are drowning man in disease. So you must enter into tyāga. Believe tyāga itself to be enjoyment, and turn that very thing into yoga. It is with this in view that in the Veda: 'Na karmaṇā na prajayā tyāgenaike amṛtatva mānasuḥ.' In a body that makes no tyāga, how can we gain immortality and Ānanda? What are the things you must renounce? You must renounce lust. You must renounce enjoyment. You must renounce greed. This is precisely what we must renounce. If it is a matter of leaving house, home, property and possessions, these can be given up easily too; but these are not what must be renounced.

Man must indeed have some desires.
