In plain words

A minister with good sense said, it seems, "King, why waste money on such a thing, why trouble the people? Wherever you go, if you wear sandals on your feet, what do the thorns matter to you? However many thorns there are, you can walk. So try to put sandals on your own feet; to try to make the whole world free of thorns is madness," he said, it seems. A king's eyes fell ill. A physician came and said, it seems, "If this illness is to be cured, then if there is one single green colour wherever you look, this eye disease will go," he said, it seems. The painters all got a fine demand. The king ordered everyone to put green colour, all the paint there was, on the trees, the hillocks and the walls, it seems. A great soul came to the king: "Foolish king, what use is it to sit painting colours in this way? Put green glasses on your eyes. Everything will look nothing but green," he said, it seems. In the same way, if we change our heart into one full of Prema, we need not revile other people in any way. We need not praise them. We need not reject them. So instead of filling the heart with sense objects alone, try to fill it with Prema. Foster only sacred feelings. Whatever we do, we must do it as selfless work. That very thing is the work Kṛṣṇa did. He conquered many kings and entered into the affairs of kingdoms. He put an end to these deceits. He crushed those who went on the wrong path. He handed power to those to whom power was due. However much He did, He Himself remained only a king without a crown. After He had slain Kaṃsa, people came to Kṛṣṇa and prayed. "Swami, You may rule this city of Mathurā Yourself, may You not?" they said. Foolish one, if I become King, I become one alone. I must be King maker. So I must be one who makes kings. I do not need a kingdom. I rule the empire of the heart. God's broad feelings are like this. Today we watch our dramas and cinemas and, taking them as our basis, say that such were the things Kṛṣṇa did. These are stories someone made up. But there are no such things in Kṛṣṇa.

God is one: whatever the names, whatever the country, whatever the age, we must recognise the truth that divinity is one. We must put away these feelings of difference. We must hold to the equal vision that divinity is in all. Above all, we must try to recognise the power of Prakṛti. Prakṛti is not one thing and Paramātma another. This very Prakṛti is called Dharā. When we say Dharā, it has itself turned into Rādhā. What does Rādhākṛṣṇa mean? Dharā, Paramātma: Rādhākṛṣṇa is the very form of Prakṛti and Paramātma. So try to carry out well the duty we have to do within this Prakṛti.
