In plain words
Crores earned through untruth, injustice, wrongdoing and evil ways are not worth a bush coat. God does not look at this at all. I have said it many times. Keep in view the inner meaning of Kṛṣṇa's weighing in the balance. However many jewels Satyabhāmā put on the scale, however much wealth she put on, God did not balance. He balanced against Rukmiṇīdevī's Bhakti alone, against the tulasī leaf alone. What is the inner meaning of this? God is not caught by money. He is not caught by your authority. He is not caught by your fame and honour. He is not caught by your high position. He is caught only by your Bhakti. Only such Bhakti, only the Bhakti that wins God, must we achieve. We must enter the path that catches God. Otherwise, what is the use? With however many things. So, from today on, follow the easy path, believe in God's Name, teach the Name alone to all: you need do no sādhana at all. Japa, dhyāna, sacrificial rites: you need do none of them. If you do japa of the one Name, that is the essence of the Bhagavad Gītā.
Yajñānāṃ japa-yajño'smi, He said. Among all the yajñas, the yajña of japa is the highest, He said. The Name that is chanted must come from the heart. It must not come from the lips. Full of Prema, it must begin from the navel. Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati: if it comes from your lips, God's Prema too comes from the lips alone. If yours comes from the heart, God's Prema comes from the heart. However much the devotees are pained over God, just so much does God too suffer anguish over the devotee. You are not recognising that truth. Three quarters of it all we put into worldly business. Only a quarter or so do we pray for God. If, of the twenty-four hours, you use twenty-three hours and fifty-five minutes not for God but for the world, how much strength are you gathering? There are twenty-four hours in a day. You waste twenty-three hours and fifty-five minutes in the world: what have you achieved by this? One minute of bowing at daybreak. If you bow for one minute at night, you hope for so much result for these two minutes alone. Is this something to ask for? Have you no shame even to ask? How can you ask? Is not your own heart the witness to your heart? That is why Tiruttuṇḍāḷvār said: 'To the mind, the mind is witness. To the body, its quality is witness. To all, Swami is witness. To factions, folly is witness,' he said. We are behaving as these factions, but we are not ready to give to God. We are ready to take.
