Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Those who cannot recognise this truth keep entering such darkness. However much you show such people, however much you do, whatever you offer them, they do not understand

A monkey decked with jewels gains no beauty; a blind man, though his eyes are opened, cannot see; Bhakti does not arise in a fool through cleverness.

If these fools are to have Bhakti, in what way will it come? They look at it merely with a kind of cleverness. Through cleverness, Bhakti for God does not take hold in them at all. But through Prema alone Bhakti, Mukti and cleverness too can be attained: love God. This very principle of Prema is the royal road for man. We must understand the sameness that says Divinity is in everyone. Through this Prema alone does unity come about.

A small example. Today people of many countries have all gathered here. Difference in language. Difference in culture. Difference in doctrines, difference in desires. However many differences there may be, they have set all the differences aside, believed in the principle of Sai Prema, and have been living as one, like brothers and sisters. For all these people to come together in such unity and experience Ānanda, Ānanda itself is the cause and nothing else. Hatred begins just where this Prema is absent. Prema arises only through trust. Through this Prema we gain Śānti. Through this Śānti alone we enter the path of Satya. On this very path of Satya we gain Ānanda. This Ānanda itself turns into the very form of God. So:

Where there is confidence there is Love where there is Love there is Peace where there is Peace there is Truth where there is Truth there is Bliss where there is Bliss there is GOD.

So we must develop trust. Without this very trust, a man becomes blind. Their trust grows even in all sorts of crazy things. But for trust to settle on Satya, on what is sacred, that needs a gift of fortune too.

God exists in many forms. In the language of Vedānta that is sahasra śīrṣā puruṣaḥ sahasrākṣa sahasra pāt, meaning that all forms are God's alone.
