Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You will say it is a piece of paper or a piece of cloth. But when you see the whole of it, the correct answer comes: hand kerchief. In the same way, the one who knows a thing completely shows its form completely. So in our own affairs we must enquire into everything, good and bad. Only then will the MBA students, for having studied their MBA here, become ones who set an example. Students! You are finishing this year and going out into the wide world. The first thing you must recognise is that you must develop communication. Communication does not mean communication in the market or communication with share holders or any other kind of communication. You must recognise that understanding is communication. What kind of people they all are, how the workers do their work. Where the raw material is. Where the current is. When you know all these well and see sameness in all of them, communication becomes clear. In a factory, while the work was going well, the current stopped. Ways to deal with this should have been arranged beforehand. He just says, “I don't know where the workman has been or what he has done,” and puts it on the lineman. The lineman just says that the main fuse has gone bad. By the time this communication goes all the way round, two days have gone. So we must think: has it gone only in our workshop, or has it gone for everyone? Our factory makes a little loss and a little profit. What is the reason for this loss? What is the reason for this profit? If we have looked to profit, have we lowered the quality, or has some greater competition come up? We must think over all this. Today, the way things are, with these two, Imitation and competition, things are going badly downhill. We must never lower our quality in the least. We may cut down on anything, but we must not lower quality. Not quantity: what we need is quality. It is not good if, for the sake of money, when someone's competition comes along, we lower our quality.
