In plain words

“Kṛṣṇa, the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas are both the children of brothers. They are one eye to You, these are one eye to You too. But You are showing great partiality. You have come as envoy for Dharmaja's side, but what of the Kauravas?” Kṛṣṇa said, “The Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas are both one to Me. I came for peace so that good name may come to both,” He said. “Both lines must stay safe. But out of this love for your sons, you are encouraging your wicked sons in many ways. This is a great wrong. When you see a wicked son, regard him as a kind of filth. Do you not cleanse the impurity in your own body? What cruel deeds these Duryodhana, Duḥśāsana and the rest are taking part in!” So He taught, very firmly. Bhīṣma, Kṛpācārya, Aśvatthāmā rejoiced: “Right, right, well said.” “This is not a trouble for the kings alone. How many innocent people will give up their lives in it!” So, in many ways, Kṛṣṇa taught that this was not good. “Not only that. The Pāṇḍavas will not hurt you in any way. From that day to this they have been most respectful. He has told Me again and again to plead with you. ‘If you do not wish to give us our Indraprastha, give at least five villages to us five brothers,’ he said. They are all coming into this kingdom. When they come at such a time, where are they to live? All this while their women have been living in other people's houses. After they come, must they not live in their own houses? How many hardships the Pāṇḍavas have been put through! They lived like cattle, grazing on leaves and roots. As if what they have suffered like this were not enough, if you make no arrangement of any kind for them now, it is a great sin,” He said. Then Dhṛtarāṣṭra asked, “Is there not even a thousandth part of this love and affection You have for them, for my sons?” he said. “Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati. As each one thinks of Me, so I am to him. In whatever measure anyone thinks of Me, in just that measure I am. In the ocean there is all the water one needs. One takes a small vessel. One takes a big vessel. However much each takes, that much water comes. The difference is only in the vessels; there is no difference in the water in it,” He said. “What is this, Kṛṣṇa! You speak only on the Pāṇḍavas' side. What is this close bond You have with the Pāṇḍavas? What is this hatred You have for my sons?” Dhṛtarāṣṭra asked.

“Dhṛtarāṣṭra! I am speaking Satya in this assembly. With Me there is not one thing inside and another outside. With Me it is one and the same in both. That itself is ‘proper study of mankind is man’.
