Passage 7

In plain words

Our faith has no reason. It is beyond reason. You must recognise this well. You love your mother. If someone asks you what the reason for it is, what will you say? To this there is only one answer. She is my mother; she is my mother, and that is why I love her. In the same way, what is the reason for faith in God? He is my God: that is the reason. Only through that faith are we able to recognise divinity. That faith strengthens us so much. That is why:

Where there is confidence there is Love Where there is Love there is Peace Where there is Peace there is truth Where there is truth there is Bliss Where there is Bliss there is GOD.

With confidence such as this we must make the effort it takes to gain Ānanda. Without this confidence you have no Ānanda at all. But there are also messengers who shatter what confidence there is in the children of today.

The heart of the students is holy. It is pure. It is spotless. It is selfless. But some selfish people scatter it in many ways. Not all. There are only some. When teachers teach students, the teacher must prove in his own conduct the trust the students are to gain. If teachers say one thing and do another, how will this example come? So when they teach that students must keep to this discipline, they themselves must first keep that discipline.

If the teachers are good, no fault of any kind can find a way into the students. The way education is today, as it grows and grows, good qualities keep dwindling and dwindling. When they are in primary school, how holy the students are, how neat, how selfless, how disciplined! From there, little by little, by the time they come to Higher Secondary School a change sets in in their purity. By the time they come from there to college, it is turned upside down. Balance falls. What is the reason? As they grow and grow older, they lose this balance. Restlessness grows great. Control of the senses wears thin. That is why young children are being spoilt.
