Passage 7

In plain words

The Fan loses nothing because you do not put it on. That loss and that Ānanda are yours. That is precisely why you must recognise rightly the way you use it. At every moment, what supports everything is Divinity. Instead of entreating what is the support, we depend on this body, which is the supported. Through this we fall prey to delusion. Through this delusion we sink into sorrow. Through this sorrow we lose all our strength. Man thinks, “Through these pleasures and joys I am enjoying comforts and riches.” A great mistake. You are not enjoying pleasure. Pleasure is enjoying you. That is why the strength of your senses is waning. If you really were the one who enjoyed the pleasures, why should you not be strong? Because the pleasures enjoy you, you are growing weak. You are growing old. You fall prey to diseases. That is precisely why

Birth is sorrow, old age is sorrow, a wife is sorrow, again and again; at the time of the end, great sorrow; therefore beware, beware.

Students! These worldly comforts and riches are not lasting. They are not Satya. We do have to seek them. We do have to experience them. But the goal itself we must keep on Divinity. That is precisely why it is very good for us to live in worldly affairs with a spiritual vision. Only when we lead such a life can we win victory in everything: in worldly learning, and in the joys of this world and the next. By recalling and recounting to these children every day some fine, ideal experiences and sayings in this way, we will have done them some good. Because of this they will try to read some good books. It is most essential that every day two students at a time share with your fellow friends, the students and your brothers what has happened in some spiritual matter, or in your growth, or in your experience. I have begun this programme today to give you such enthusiasm and encouragement and to bring the spiritual principle into your hearts. We must not waste our life in worldly matters. You give all your time to your studies and your work, somehow, but for at least one hour a day you must take this spiritual life into your hearts. From tomorrow this gathering will begin at five o'clock and go on till six. Make your life worthwhile in this satsaṅg. The 1st speaker, Sāinātha, spoke.
