In plain words
Devotees as supreme as these gopīs are found nowhere in the world. As He thought and thought of their Ānanda, the Ānanda within Him spilled out, it seems. Ānanda has a form. Where Kṛṣṇa is, there is Rādhā. Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa are the very forms of Prakṛti and Paramātma. Rādhā is the very form of Prakṛti. Rādhā is dhārā. Dharā is Rādhā. That is why Rādhā, the principle of Prakṛti, is always near Kṛṣṇa. She took into herself the Prema that is Kṛṣṇa's Ānanda, it seems. From then on, Kṛṣṇa had no Ānanda at all, it seems. Saying ‘All My Ānanda has gone into Rādhā’, He has been following Rādhā from then until now, it seems: ‘Give Me back My Ānanda!’ So if we taste God's Prema, God will come after you. You need not go after God. That is true Bhakti. God must be made to come after us.
Like an infant that cries aloud, groping and groping for its mother's embrace, like a young calf that bellows ‘ambā, ambā’ for its mother, lost in the herd, like a wife parted from her lord who, faint with the pain of separation, hides in corners and moans,
in this way, unable to bear separation from God, we must live offering ourselves to God in every way. Uddhava taught that this is Bhakti. ‘Such Bhakti I have seen in no one in the world, nor known,’ he says.
Students! Bhakti and surrender do not mean merely singing bhajans and doing pūjā. These all count as good karmas, but they do not count as Bhakti. We must strive for the Prema of God. In the same way, while carrying out our duties, while continuing all our studies, while passing at a good level, though all these are paths open to us, the goal these paths come back to is one. ‘Nadīnāṃ sāgaro gatiḥ’: as all rivers reach the ocean and merge in it, all paths and all branches of learning come together and merge in spiritual learning. That is why the Bhagavad Gītā says, ‘adhyātma vidyā vidyānām’. That is the true learning.
Students! I fear I am wearying you by teaching like this every day! So from tomorrow we will stop these talks. Take it that everyone has agreed. All the students of the Institute should take careful note. The Higher Secondary School boys and the Primary School boys: think carefully how well they enjoy, with all their hearts, their aspirations, their feelings, their fervour and their Bhakti and surrender. From the hearts of little children words come out sweetly, with pure and steady feelings.
