Passage 12

In plain words

The difference between that and this is plain to see. That is art; this is heart. It comes from their heart. That Śrīkānt, that little boy, melted the mind, delighted the heart and made Prema melt. Bhakti and surrender are just like that. When he sang, he looked at no one. He closed his eyes and sang with all his heart. He showed himself to be accomplished in the science of music. He knows Carnatic music. He knows Hindustani music, he knows Tamil songs. A boy who knows everything. Jesus used to say long ago that if we become like little children even once a day, we are truly blessed. Little children have no sense at all of difference, this and that. They have pure and steady feelings. They do not know any distinction, whether of attachment and hatred or of good and bad. Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa was just such a one. In the things of Prakṛti our cleverness is greater. For everything an enquiry: Is it right or wrong is it good or bad. We sit in this. This is merely a quality of Prakṛti. For this Prakṛti, rajoguṇa is the chief thing. For rajoguṇa doubt is essential. Doubts themselves are called rajoguṇa. But if we want to recognise the principle of God, eternal Satya, there must be freedom from doubt, purity of feeling and selfless Prema. If we share all such holy thoughts with such children, our hearts too will come close to theirs. Students! Little by little remove the hardness that has formed in your hearts and develop the principle of Prema. Instead of needlessly filling your heads with the news of every country, develop the principle of Prema in your hearts.
