In plain words
When does this Prema come? This Prema comes only at a time of Ānanda.
Only when there is Prema does Ānanda come. Only when you are in Ānanda do you sing a song. Remember this well in your daily lives. When you are truly happy, you go on singing some song or other, na-na-nā, na-na-nā. In that very Ānanda, music comes to you. But in sorrow music does not come. Even in the bathroom you go on singing. Wherever it may be, when does this Ānanda come? It is only at a time of Ānanda that music begins. On the burning-ground and on the ground of safety alike, the one who sang was Kṛṣṇa. He sang even on the field of battle. That is why they called it the Bhagavad Gītā. On this battlefield you, for your part, may feel fear. There may be the fear of what will happen and who will kill. But Kṛṣṇa had no fear. For God, no fear. No fear. That is why He said it. He said, “Be fearless I am with you.” When God is with you, there is no room left for fear. When you yourself are God, why should fear come any more? It is not a heart without God, is it! In that feeling, be fearless. This is the Ānanda we must earn today. This is the Ānanda we must nourish today. This is the Ānanda we must hold on to today. Without it, there will be no joy at all any more. There will only be Ice Cream joy. So to experience Ānanda of this kind, we must win the Prema of God. This Prema comes to us only through Prema, by no other path. Students! Truly, man's life is a most fortunate life. A sacred life. A life to be lived, a life to be honoured. Such a human life we are wasting today, like selling a ruby for charcoal, with the vāsanās of the senses all closing in.
