In plain words
Things you had forgotten come back to memory just then. Within that sāttvic time you must begin your prayers. “Oh, it is impossible to get up at four or five,” they say, and get up at eight. And some children, before they came here, used to get up at nine and go off to school with that unwashed face. They are nothing but Kumbhakarṇa's brothers. Get up at four and finish your morning duties. Wash your feet and face. Sit happily; and why wash the face, you ask? You are told to wash the face only so that sleep does not come. If you keep in mind subtle things like these, dhyāna falls into place very easily. In the evening too it is the same: you come back from college. From four to nine there is time. Play games, learn games. But at six, when you have gone back, wash your feet and hands and sit for at least five minutes. Dhyāna is only two minutes and twenty-four seconds. You need not sit for great long hours. If you keep doing it that way, how sacred it becomes! Truly, do it that way and see; you yourselves will know your joy. Your purity grows ever so much. Today you go on and on in mad feelings and mad fancies. So when you look at those faces, they look somehow or other. They look like the faces of people who have fallen ill. There is no radiance there. Purity itself is the root cause of radiance. When there is purity within, how bright the glow of the face is! A small example. Look. I am sixty-four years old. How am I? You are youngsters of sixteen. How are you? What makes the radiance go? Your thoughts alone. Your impurity alone is the cause of it. So nourish purity. The more this purity grows, the younger you stay. No diseases enter you. Achieve that. Achieve everything through Prema alone. Without it, nothing can be achieved. Those who want to know this principle of dhāraṇā, dhyāna and samādhi, or who wish to practise it, I will tell all of you separately later. This is very necessary in our Institute. Along with these worldly studies, you must also partake of the nectar of the spirit. Develop faith and devotion toward many of these things and settle on them as the chief Subject of your life. Holding a gathering like this every day is somewhat inconvenient for many devotees. Poor things, I give them all their interviews only in the morning. Because there is nothing in the evening, many go away disappointed. So from now on let us hold these gatherings only on Thursdays and Sundays. Three parts of all My time I give to you alone. If I give you alone the one part that is left, what will become of them? Truly, theirs is the greater devotion and faith.
