In plain words

Through the feeling for God the heart must melt. This melted heart must flow in the form of Prema. This flow, which is the form of Prema, merges in the Paramātma.

Students! Our student said that Prema is of three kinds. The physical Prema of the body, the Prema of the mind and the Prema of the Ātma. But here there are not three Premas. The three together are one. Only our feelings keep changing. Prema is one. When this Prema is experienced with the feeling for God, everything becomes fulfilled. When Prema is experienced with a selfish feeling, some pleasures and pains arise in it itself. So we must experience it with the feeling that every act is for the pleasure of God. They spoke of the gross body, the subtle body and the causal body. How is the subtle body? Scholars describe the gross and the subtle in many ways. My own view is that the gross and the subtle are twins. They are closely bound. They are like the image and its reflection. It is like action and reaction, like sound and resound. The whole principle within us is contained within us itself. We go somewhere and say something. The resound of what we said comes back to us. This echo is everywhere. In some places it shows itself plainly. In some places it stays hidden. It is everywhere, this echo. Depending on the nature of the place and the state of the air, it takes shape more strongly there.

A student took the cattle and went as far as a hill. Going there, he began some song or other. From somewhere the same song kept coming back. This boy did not know there was an echo. ‘Who is that fellow singing my very song in my very voice?’ he fretted. ‘Who are you, fellow?’ he asked. From there again the sound came, ‘Who are you, fellow?’ ‘What is this? You talk so rudely! Tell me your name,’ he said. Back again came, ‘Tell me your name.’ ‘Hey, shut your mouth!’ he said. He too said, ‘Shut your mouth!’ ‘Hey, I’ll catch you and beat you!’ he said. He too said, ‘I’ll catch you and beat you!’ In this way the quarrel grew hot. He searched on every side for where this fellow was. He could not be seen anywhere. ‘This fellow, whoever he is, is my enemy. He is behaving very much against me. I must deal with him,’ he thought. He drove off the cattle. He came home. He told his mother. ‘Mother! Someone abused me a lot like this.
