Passage 13

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

This world itself is our true Guru. In this universe every bird, every tree, every rock, all of them give us teachings of many kinds. The forests are all simply wood. The hills are all simply rock. The earth is all simply clay. The body is all simply flesh. All of these are made of the five elements. Nowhere do we see anything other than this. So the universe itself is our chief Guru. We must follow well the divinity of this universe. Look, one day we may go to sleep early. One day we may get up early. But by the law of Nature, how correctly and how well the seasons come round! How well the sunrise and the sunset go on! Everything in the world keeps to its own law. Man alone goes on breaking his law. So it is man who needs all the dharmas most of all today. The cattle keep to their own dharmas. The beasts keep to their own laws. They too have a certain season and reason. It is man alone who frets without any reason or any season. It is such a man who most needs good counsel today. It is such a man who most needs teachings on Dharma today. It is such a man who most needs morality and honesty. For all of these one must keep to a discipline. That discipline is the spiritual. Without the spiritual, man will not shine or blossom at all.

Embodiments of Prema! If we wish to win Prema, as the boy of the eighth class said: the remembrance of the Name. The remembrance of the Name is itself the way across. Above all, you must take part in works of service and do your service with the remembrance of the Name. Today you must recognise one special thing. The human body was given for the sake of action. Karmānubandhīni manuṣyaloke! All the activities there are, every one, go together with this body. It is not possible at all for us to be without performing action. Every person must carry out his own duty. One may say that the sinner is the one who forgets his own duty. When each keeps to his own duty, the whole country will be prosperous. Do not think about someone else. Do your own duty. Another will do his own duty. Then no one needs to tell anyone else. If a lifeless machine does no work, it rusts away. If a man does no work, will he not rust? A man who does no work is no man at all. It is not enough to do some work or other. You must take part in service to society. Take part in service to society: this itself is service to the Lord of all. That is the easy way to win the Prema of God. Best way to love God is love all Serve all.
