Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

If this doctor takes away the bones, that doctor the heart, and this doctor the nose and ears, what is left? A doctor must know everything to do with the body. Only then can he understand the state of the body well. The reason for this is selfishness. Selfishness. For their own living they are cutting life up into parts. So it must not go this way: on no path, neither in science nor in the spiritual, must we divide.

Now, if we take it from the side of science, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon, these four, are in every body. From hydrogen, carbon is born. This carbon gradually, by the force of heat, gives rise to oil. That is called crude oil. When this crude oil is refined it turns into kerosene. When this kerosene is purified further it turns into petrol. If the petrol is purified further it turns into white petrol. After such things are produced, a gas also comes off. In this gas there are many kinds of gases. Among them are tear gas, poisonous gas, laughing gas and chloroform gas. With this gas some people laugh. For some, the eyes water. Some fall into a stupor. For some it acts as a poison. Where do all these come from? What is the basis of them all? Hydrogen. This hydrogen is very powerful. If we take it the way science does, it starts from the sun and comes here. The sun is nine crores and eighty lakhs of miles away. By the time this hydrogen comes from there, only some tiny part of it reaches us. A great deal is wasted on the way. Even this little power that arrives is what brings forth everything in this world: air, water, fire and sound. It is the reflection of the atoms in this hydrogen that slowly lifts the water of the ocean away as vapour. It sends it back down again as rain. What makes the plants grow is hydrogen. It is hydrogen that grows the vegetables we need. The proteins in man, all these are the fruit of hydrogen. Every single thing we are able to receive only through its influence. Some time ago whole forests sank into the earth (they were buried). In them, in the course of time, through the force of heat, that turned into carbon. There are carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. But carbon monoxide is more powerful than carbon dioxide.
