Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

This is what they called Prajñā. The Ātma, the Manas and the body are the form of everyone. No form is to be seen on the earth without these three. So we must recognise that Omkāra is our own form, not a distortion, and act on it. The principle that teaches oneness is the essence of the Veda. Everything keeps arising from the very Brahman that is this Om. Being born, growing, perishing: for all of these the one Brahman principle alone is the root and support. ‘Tat jalāt’ is a word in the Veda. This is the chief sūtra of the Brahma-sūtras. Tat means ‘from that’; ja means being born; la means dissolving. Ta means growing. What does tat jalāt mean? That from which it was born, that in which it dissolves: from that itself it grows. Though such great and sacred sūtras lie in the Veda, because there were no great souls to hand them on in the right way, and because they were not understood, people took all of them for things without meaning, covered over what was real, and went on increasing what was without meaning.

In short, the whole life of man is a yajña. All the actions man does have three times. Morning, midday and evening. In our life the morning lasts 24 years. That is, its inner meaning is the zeal and drive to do actions all the time, keeping in mind not only the body's nature but the ideas of the way of learning and the things of the future. You may also call this the state of childhood. The second is the midday. That is 44 years. Then the evening is 48 years. All together, man's life is 116 years. Man should live 116 years; when he dies within a short time, what is the reason? Man strays from the paths he ought to follow in his way of living, takes to wrong paths, ruins his health and wastes his life away. The way of living lies in man's heart. Through his very worry and mistrust, man today gives his life away. The whole world is the form of God. All the things in such a world are the form of Brahman.

If you truly hold God dear, if you love Him, you must love all the things in this world. Hate nothing. Mock no one. Revile no one. Hurt no one. These are the forms of God.
