In plain words
What kind of faith? "God is there. He will surely help me in this good." That is the faith we must build up. Without that very faith we cannot achieve anything. Today man's faith is growing in everything. In God alone it is not growing. What is the reason? His own weakness. Building up his mind on these natural vāsanās is itself the root cause of this weakness.
The whole world is anityam asukhaṃ lokam. That is the very śloka in the Bhagavad Gītā. It is not a world full of happiness and riches. It is not lasting. When we have entered such a world and want Śānti and happiness, how will they come to us? If you go into a military hotel hoping to eat idli and sāmbār, how will you get idli there? If you go into a military hotel and say, "I want sāmbār and rice," how will he give it? If you go into a hotel that is passing and joyless and want what is lasting and happy, how will you get it? Where we live is in the passing. Our whole life is something passing. It is like a bubble on the water. To hope for lasting Satya in such a thing: that is what it is. A great delusion. What is the reason? Social morality has gone. People do not believe in honesty. They have forgotten what is called humanness. They have forgotten Divinity. We are living only with demonic and animal natures. No. No. We must build up the faith, "I am a man." Many of you may wonder. To think, "I am a man," is only half truth. The other half truth: I am not animal. Only when we make these two one can we live as a full man. This fellow thinks he is a man. He is doing animal work. That is not the way. I am not animal. We must build up the faith, "I am not a beast." We must try to experience that path of Satya. The root cause of everything is Prema itself. By Prema you can achieve anything. With Prema you can win over everything. Without Prema we cannot achieve anything. So Prema itself is the chief life-breath. Prema itself is the chief God. There is no man in the world without Prema. God dwells in everyone as the embodiment of Prema. We are using that Prema in many kinds of ways. All of us:
birds of one nest, flowers of one creeper, children of one mother, offspring of one race; among ourselves why these quarrels?
