In plain words
In the worship of stone images you stand out as the best, and you toil to win people's praise; people have praised all such worship, but you do not do the service that pleases Śiva!
One who studies and studies and studies, yet has no good qualities, and lives by tormenting people: better than such learning is the donkey, which lives by carrying its load.
God is the form of Prema, all Prema; to join Prema with Prema becomes the rule. So the one who holds Prema in its fullness becomes worthy to reach the One without a second.
Embodiments of Prema!
God is all Prema, in perfect fullness. That very Prema He showers equally on all. Hold fragrant flowers in your right hand or in your left; the fragrance is one and the same. In the same way, for God there is no difference of friend and foe. Each according to his own feelings, just as it is said, ‘Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati,’ people create differences even in God and live on the path that takes God to be full of differences. Good people and bad, friends and foes, the wicked and those on the right path: God makes no difference of any kind. An iron axe may cut down a sandalwood tree without mercy and without pity, yet that sandalwood tree gives its fragrance even to that hard axe. In the same way, God stands ready to love anyone at all with an equal Prema, to cherish them, to bless them and to grant them Ānanda. But for persons of narrow feelings it is very hard to recognise God's equal regard. That is true. How can one who knows the fish trade recognise the value of diamonds? Each according to his own condition and circumstances, they experience God's power and might as suits their own state of mind.
If you would rid yourself of such narrow feelings, you must develop Prema.
