In plain words
You should not accept surrender from such a one. Rāma called Jāmbavān. 'Well, Jāmbavān! What is your advice?' He asked. 'The Lord's command,' he said. As he asked them one by one, all of them refused and said, Kill him and send him off. At once Rāma spoke. 'That is not right. Remembering the Name of Rāma, longing for Rāma's presence, holding my presence alone as his treasure, he has come to me. Release him at once,' he said.
Rāma, I am yours, I am yours, he said. Then he said, 'Let one say but once, I am yours, whoever he may be, him I will rule'. Aṅgada asked. Who is Aṅgada? Vāli's son. 'Swāmi, now he has come saying, I am yours. You are protecting him. You say you will give Laṅkā to this very man and crown him king. But tomorrow, if Rāvaṇa himself comes, falls at your feet and says, Swāmi, I am yours, what will you give Rāvaṇa?' he said. 'If Rāvaṇa comes and says, I am yours, what kingdom will you give Rāvaṇa then? If Rāvaṇa himself truly comes and says, Swāmi, I am yours, I will take Bharata by the hands and make Rāvaṇa king of Ayodhyā, he said. So if one says but once, I am yours, that is enough: God stands ready to give him anything at all.
All this time he had done the remembrance. Today Vibhīṣaṇa comes to Him for refuge. In the war, saying, It is for this Sītā that you are fighting, is it not, I will cut this Sītā to pieces, he cut her to pieces right on the battlefield, to pieces upon pieces, and threw her away. Lakṣmaṇa and Rāma saw it. Alas, Sītā is gone, he has cut her to pieces: so they thought. Then Vibhīṣaṇa spoke. 'What right has he to touch Sītā? He has no right even to kill her. She is the Mother of the world. That is rākṣasa māyā. In this way, staying in Rāma's presence, he went on explaining Rāvaṇa's rākṣasa māyās, telling of them and countering them. That itself is taking part in Rāma's work. Every trick Rāvaṇa played, he went on telling Rāma: these are tricks. He went on speaking the truth. I have no brothers any more. The body is impermanent. Unstable. I am yours; all my life I am yours alone. In this way Hanumān went on … every sādhaka. You keep saying Rāma, Rāma. What do you understand of the essence of this Name of Rāma? You understand nothing. Take part in Rāma's work. He brought all the vānaras into Rāma's work.
What kind of one is Jāmbavān? He does the Name of Rāma. He took part in Rāma's work. Jāmbavān is 116 years old. Reckoned by that age's measure of time, Jāmbavān is 5000 years old.
