In plain words

Next, 'draṣṭuṃ': seeing. You see what you have heard of. Then praveṣṭuṃ. Going inside. Then that is pramoda. We heard that good fruit had come into the market. mangoes. We heard that the juicy mangoes we love had come. Just hearing it gives some satisfaction. It becomes priya. You went to the market. By the time you saw them, you felt joy. You took money out of your pocket and took the fruit. Taking the fruit, you sucked out the juice. Hearing did not fill your stomach. Seeing did not fill your stomach. Only when you enjoy them is your stomach filled. That is pramoda. If you hear that the Swami dear to you is at work somewhere in Puttaparthi, you feel great joy. But if you see that Swami, how much greater the joy! If you are united with Swami, the joy is greater still. We must recognise the true principle of these three: priya, moda, pramoda. That is unity, purity, Divinity. It is this that is meant by: You are not one person but three. The one you think you are: that is priya. The one others think you are, that is moda. The one you really are, that is pramoda.

In the Bible too He said this very thing: I am the messenger of God, He said; I am God's messenger, He said. To Him that was priya. After practising well what was dear to Him for some time, again and again, the second: I am son of God. He said. That is, a relationship began with …. Son of God. That is, God the Father, Himself the Son. This bond of father and son was formed. That is the one others think you are. After that Jesus spoke: I and My Father are one, He said. The two became one. That is the Holy Ghost, you see; that is what is called Vairāgya. This … is in the Persian language. What does I am in the light mean? You are inside the light, so you have no freedom. You stay inside the light as something apart. But I am in the light. How am I there? If you go on inquiring like this, again and again, … I in the light, I, the light is in me. The light is in me: having seen that, and after inquiring into both, whether the light is in me or I am in the light, the light is not in me and I am not in the light. I am the light, He said.
