In plain words
We must hear only matters that concern God. You must take in the happy news of others. In this way we must see that there is no fault of hearing. We must take in hearing that is free of fault. Only then is it as if sāttvic food has been eaten through this sense. Through the nose we must take in only fragrance. When you take in foul smells, your health suffers. Not only this: many germs too keep coming in with the air we take in. We must not breathe air that spoils health. We must take in pure air in an open place. We must take in food through the hands too. That is, we must do karmas that are free of fault. Only then does this take shape as the temple of God. When we put away these five faults, the fault of speech, the fault of sight, the fault of hearing, the fault of Manas and the fault of action, we ourselves turn into the Paramātma. With this body full of the five faults, it is not sāttvic food merely because we take milk and fruit, saying, 'I am taking holy food.' We must experience the sāttvic through these five senses too.
This temple called the body has five doors. For what purpose were these doors built? They were made for the divine devotees who enter to have the darśan of God. Every temple has many doors. Through these doors only devotees keep entering; others do not enter. A small example. We build a house for ourselves. It is fine and beautiful. We put in many doors. For what purpose did we build these doors? We put in doors for the convenience of our relatives and our own people coming in and going out. Just because there is a door, do we let pigs and dogs and everything in? No. No. When anything comes that should not enter, we shut the door. Only when those fit to enter come do we open the door. In just this way, we must give the chance to enter through the doors of this temple called the body only to what is holy. Only then can it receive the fitting name of temple.
