In plain words

You walk ahead. I shall come to your house and set all these jewels down there," she said. But she asked him to keep one rule. You must go on ahead, only ahead; do not turn and look back. If you turn and look back, I shall stop right there. What she said was true. His heart full of joy, he hurried along in high spirits, wondering how soon, how soon he would reach home. When he had gone some distance, she was making a great deal of sound. Wondering what ornaments she had put on, he looked back just once. He had no patience to wait until he got home. When he turned and looked back, she stopped right there and never went on to his house. You see! The power of desire! Even after receiving grace he cannot enjoy it. So even when God's grace is there full and plenty, we must also earn the strength to enjoy it. If we are to earn the strength to enjoy that, we must obey the command. Had he obeyed Lakṣmī Devī's command, that Lakṣmī would have come and stayed with him, would she not? It was by overstepping the command that he lost even the Lakṣmī he had received. This is how the world is.

The whole world is under the sway of the sattva, rajo and tamo guṇas. The creation of these sattva, rajo and tamo guṇas is present in our sight as well. Look at our eyes, examine them well. First of all, at the edge, Red colour: that is the rajo guṇa. Just past it, the sāttvic. Within that sāttvic, in the very middle, is the tamo guṇa. That is the black. White, red, black: the three guṇas are in our sight too. Where is God, what is He like? Prakṛti itself gives us the answer, in a form we see before us. Sunrise and sunset take place; from these sunrises and sunsets come the days. From the days come months, and from the months come years. What is the reason this happens? The earth turns round itself at a speed of a thousand miles. It is by this turning that sunrise and sunset take place. What do we gain merely from sunrise and sunset taking place? But God's will is very vast. No one can understand it. That same earth also goes round the sun with a speed of 66 thousand miles. Turning round itself a thousand miles an hour, it goes round the sun at a speed of sixty-six thousand miles.
