In plain words

This is what happens. He fancies that he is merely taking it; not so. No. It is taking him. Seeking Śānti in this way, they follow the wrong road and bring their lives to ruin. If you want to enjoy true Śānti and happiness, do Public service. Enter into society. Look after the poor and those who have no one. In that, your energy too grows. Śānti of mind is gained as well. Your conscious is satisfied that it is good work you have done. These rich men and officers never think of entering this delightful path.

Students! From now on students must keep this as their aim, and not merely enjoy their own strength and their own purity themselves, but put it to use for society as well. The reason is this: you too are one person in society. You are not far from society. So your whole welfare rests upon the welfare of society. Only then does your own welfare grow too. This is man's true duty. It is because we forget this duty, put our faith in evil feelings and enter wicked ways, that we are drifting far from Śānti and happiness. You yourself are God. Your own principle is the power of God. This is what they called energy. Now, we have a great deal of intelligence; and all this intelligence they are misusing. Even with intelligence, if that intelligence does not enter the right path, the intelligence becomes useless. If you enter into action without intelligence, the action becomes fruitless. Knowledge without action is foolishness. Action without knowledge is useless. So knowledge, action: we must make the two one. This is the oneness of the two, divinity and the principle of Prakṛti. So our creation is not something separate, apart from God. It is joined with God Himself. That is why there is this threefold form, called jīva, Īśvara and Prakṛti. These three are different, are they not? They appear to us as different names and forms, but what exists is one alone. What is this? This is cloth. Then how did this become cloth? In threads it became cloth. How did this thread come about? In the cotton they took shape as threads. Without cotton there is no thread. Without thread it did not become cloth. So cotton, thread and cloth are one. For our uses, names and forms came to it, each different.
