Passage 16

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

There is no need to make so many prayers. If you carry out the command, Grace is gained right there.

Students! First of all, give value to your words. Earn value for your words. Keep your word at the level of value. There are two eyes. You may see two. There are two ears; you may hear two. But the tongue is only one. So:

Satya is the life of the word; the life of a fort, its host of good soldiers on the earth; honour is the life of a people; the signature is the life of a note.

Without our signature, where is the value of a promissory note? So Satya alone is the life of our word. Only then, satyameva jayate. So, if you want to recognise the divine principle, it is not something everyone can understand. God is cast down by nothing. Nor is He elated. If the whole world comes and reviles Me, I am not cast down. If the whole world comes and praises Me, I am not elated. My Satya is My own. For those who are cast down and elated, the fault in them is the reaction. When there is no fault, why should one be cast down, why should one be elated? So, if we strengthen the faith that what is at this level of the heart is one alone, that it alone is pure, there will be no room any more for any kind of worry.

Students! Little by little all our summer course classes are drawing near their close. So such a chance is rare. For this reason I am taking a little more time and giving you this chance to converse. There are only two days left. Within these two days too there is chance enough to make you recognise rightly Swami's true principle, true teachings and true form. If you understand that, you need not understand anything else. If you go to the potter's house and understand that all the pots are made of clay alone, you may give a pot any name at all. We must first look at the base. So make the effort it needs to recognise, to some extent, the principle of Swami that is the base.
