Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

For in order to set them right, such a medicine has to be used. Swami, why are You not talking to me? Where have you the right to ask? That is My choice; now, a small example for this. Four patients came to a doctor. All four had a stomach ache. Seen from outside, everyone had a stomach ache. When one comes, what does that doctor do? He looks at him, examines him, and says, "Son, it is nothing; a hot water fomentation will set it right." He sends him off at once. Another comes, saying, "I have a stomach ache." He gives him soda bicarb and magsulph mixed together and says, "The gas trouble will go." The third comes. He tells him, "Son, I shall give you salt; you will be purged a couple of times and it will ease; go." The fourth comes. He says an operation must be done immediately. What, has the doctor a hatred for this one? No, no; his illness is different: appendicitis. The operation must be done at once. In the same way, according to each one's feelings, each one's actions, each one's thoughts, I give them what is fit for them. Some I do not even look at. With some I do not even speak. When some come this way, I go that way. For what reason do I give all these prescriptions I give? There is a rule in Me. My word has great value. Even if you do not give it value, I give My word value. So when they do not act rightly on My word, I do not like to talk with them and waste My word on them. So, to guard My word, I keep from speaking, for certain reasons. They only say to themselves, "Swami is not speaking to me", but why should they not think, "I have not acted on Swami's command"? This is not only one way traffic. We must consider both, give and take; sameness means this: if you recognise that Swami is not talking to you only because you acted in this way, you will not do it again from now on. But the devotees of today do not do so. Swami is not talking. Swami is not talking. That is all they look at; they make no effort to recognise the mistakes they themselves have made. So you need not first ask Swami to talk. Keep from making that mistake, and Swami will come and talk. If we pray for rain, the streams flow and run of their own accord. One prayer for rain, another prayer for the streams to flow.
