In plain words
They believed that Jñāna is not mere acquaintance with books, that Jñāna is not a thing reached by calling many subjects to mind and researching them, that all these are only knowledge of things and not knowledge of the Supreme, and that Jñāna is the feeling of the one Ātma alone. For us everything is Kṛṣṇa alone. Our treasure, our nearness, our friend, our all is our Kṛṣṇa alone. This world and the next too are our Kṛṣṇa alone. This feeling of the one Ātma they experienced. They could not bear separation from Kṛṣṇa. The Gopīs forgot the feeling of inert and conscious. They regarded the two with equal vision. The Gopīs experienced this as the very mark of the sthitaprajña.
They had no thought, 'These are trees: can they speak?' Nor did they wonder, 'These are bushes: do they have mouths?' Nor did they know to ask, 'These are flowers: can they answer us?' 'Viśvaṃ viṣṇusvarūpaṃ': the Gopīs regarded everything as the very form of God. Wherever they went: where is Kṛṣṇa? Where is Kṛṣṇa? No feeling but this stirred in their hearts. Pōtana showed a fine example of this in the Bhāgavatam. Unable to find Kṛṣṇa, the Gopīs are running off in torment of many kinds. They entered Bṛndāvana.
The dark one, the lotus-eyed one; on us the essence of compassion He showers; the one with the peacock feather spread on His crown; whose smile lights up His face: did some such one steal the treasure of the women's honour? O jasmines, is He not hiding behind your bushes? Tell us!
See: the Gopīs, whose hearts were offered to the thought of Kṛṣṇa at all times and in all states, desired nothing else at all but the sight of Kṛṣṇa's form and the sweet Prema of Kṛṣṇa. They sought nothing else.
Would minds that have tasted this sweet nectar let any other thing cling to the heart? The same Bhāgavatam says:
Would the bee that floats in the sweetness of the honey of the mandāra go to the thorn-apples?
Would the bee that has drunk the honey of the fragrant mandāra flower rush towards the flowers of the thorn-apple? Would these birds that drink the nectar of the sky enter mere dirty drains? Would the cuckoos that feed on the shoots and flowers of the sweet… … mango long for wild jasmines?
