In plain words
When Śaṅkara made his tour of victory, debates took place with Maṇḍana Miśra. Debates began between the two of them. There had to be someone to decide who had won. The two of them needed a judge to decide victory and defeat. Śaṅkara thought it over. 'Only one who has Ṛta, Satya, yoga and śraddhā has the authority to decide the victory and defeat of us two,' he thought. Such a person makes no distinctions of any kind. He has Ṛta. Thought for all three times. The harmony of all three times. He has Satya. The Satya that settles the matter there and then. Those with such qualities can decide victory and defeat without any difference between their own and another's. For this judgement Śaṅkara chose Ubhaya Bhāratī, the wife of Maṇḍana Miśra. Do you see! Śaṅkara chose as judge the very wife of the man he was debating with. If you think this over well, you will understand how virtuous this Ubhaya Bhāratī was, how wise, how rich in śraddhā and steadfastness, how pure of heart. That is why no one in the world has the authority to pass judgement on divinity, on difference, on the world's nature or on the jīva's. The reason is that the people of the world are caught in delusion. They are seized by fear. That is why fear and delusion bring man into unrest of many kinds.
If we are to keep far from fear and delusion and escape this peril, we must develop the one principle of Prema alone. Through this Prema we must recognise that the Ātma principle in all men is one, and act accordingly. This truth is made quite clear in every field: moral, physical, that of Dharma, spiritual and scientific. Scientists have been researching it. Electrons, nutrons, protons: they have kept giving it names of many kinds. The divine energy in all of these is one and the same. If we recognise that one divine energy, we need not think any more at all about each of them. One calls it gulāb jām. One calls it barfī. One calls it khīr. All these are names. If we recognise that it is the one sugar alone in them all, there is no difference at all among them. So the divine energy in electrons, neutrons, protons is one and the same. Forms and names differ, but divinity is one and the same.
