Passage 10

In plain words

Think of God

The Śānti of the Ātma comes to us from God alone. If today we call it the New Year, the year is new time. It is nothing but the form of God. “Saṃvatsara” means God. That is why:

“Salutations to Time, salutations to the Time of time, salutations to the tamer of Time's pride, salutations to Him beyond Time, salutations to the maker of Time.”

So runs the word of the Veda. So Time is the chief cause of all. Do the deeds that make your Time holy. As far as possible, take care to hurt no one. Whatever we do, whatever it is, we ourselves taste its fruit. When anger, distress, envy, jealousy or vanity comes, think of God.
