Students must keep these two without fail. Because these two are missing, every single step of man today falls into adharma. In every word, Satya is slackening. In every look, Prema is dwindling. In every hope, foresight is perishing. Every desire takes the form of selfishness. Feelings of progress are sinking to the bottom in man. Consciousness is growing cold. Differences of caste and creed are all wreaking mass slaughter. Attachment and hatred roam about as they please. To tell the truth, humanness has perished altogether. Today we need quality, not quantity. One tea spoon cow milk is useful. Why barrels of donkey milk? With us it is earning, earning. Earning is not what matters. Saṃskāra matters very much. Human saṃskāra has sunk to the bottom today.
Our whole life is money, money. What is this money? Money is needed, certainly. But too much money brings ruin to the mind. I keep telling the children this many times. We must earn the money we need for daily life. Na śreyo niyamaṃ vinā. Without niyama there is no good for us. Inside our body there is a temperature of 98.4°. But if it reaches 99°, fever has started. In the same way, our eye ball too can see only so much light and no more. When it looks at light beyond that limit, the retina burns. Our blood pressure is perfect normal at 120/80. If it rises even a little above that, some heart trouble or other has begun. In the same way, man needs money too. Then he passes his life without depending on others for his daily needs. For this, money is needed. But it is astonishing to see the pains the educated take today for the sake of this money. Even in an unlettered villager there is some sacrifice, but in the educated man there is no sacrifice at all. Wherever schools and colleges multiply, wherever courts of law multiply, it is just there that ignorance, injustice, misconduct and wrongdoing multiply most. In the hills or in the villages, where there are no schools and no courts, people live a natural life in harmony with one another. Why has the whole country sunk so low today? In students, desires beyond all limits are growing.
