In plain words
It cannot stir them. Just because it is not seen, we imagine that it is not there. Why go searching, asking where God is? You yourself are God. You yourself are that form, and you are trying to search for yourself.
A small example. If we go into a store-room that holds all things and search, we see all the things. But one thing alone is not seen. What is it? Only the one who is searching for the things is not seen; everything else is seen. So you have entered this store-room called the world and are searching through everything. All the things are seen. But you cannot see yourself. That itself is the great fault. One who has recognised himself can easily recognise all things. Only because the sight is set on things does the seer stay hidden. We switch on a torch and walk along. This torch shows the path, but it does not show you. When you turn the torch round toward yourself, you see your very self. This itself is the divine vision. When we turn this divine vision inward, the Ātma principle, full of Ānanda and immortal, is clearly understood and shines.
Once, when the war between the gods and the demons took place, the gods were holding a victory festival, believing the victory had come to them. In this victory festival, unable to recognise the cause of the victory, they strutted about in Ahaṅkāra saying, "Victory has come to me, it has fallen to me," and leapt about like madmen. They went about in proud display, full of Ahaṅkāra. Brahman, who recognised this truth, resolved to open their eyes of Jñāna, to give them teachings of truth, to bring them the Ānanda of the Ātma and to drive away this darkness, and taking the form of a Yakṣa, stood before them. Agni, the god of fire, who was strutting about in this Ahaṅkāra, came before the Yakṣa. Seeing him, the Yakṣa: "My dear one! Who are you?" he asked. "O you there! Do you not know who I am? If you do not know, I will tell you; listen. I am Agni, the god of fire, the mighty hero with the power to burn the whole world to ashes in a moment. Iron, or anything else at all: I have in me the power to melt it in a single moment, the power to burn it to ashes."
