In plain words
For the good of others the trees bear fruit; for the good of others the rivers flow; for the good of others the cows give milk; for the good of others is this body.
Embodiments of Prema!
For the sake of doing good to others, the trees offer their fruit to the world. The trees do not eat their fruit themselves. So sacred a feeling arises in these trees. For the good of others the rivers flow. They do not drink their water themselves. Giving all their water to the world, they flow for the good of others. For the sake of doing good to others, the cattle give their milk to men. They do not drink their milk themselves. But man forgets the truth that this body, paropakārārtham idaṃ śarīram, was taken up for the good of others, and follows the narrow path called selfishness and self-interest. Man today has not even a thousandth part of the sacrifice of the trees, the sacrifice of the cattle or the sacrifice of the rivers; it is vanishing from man. From rising at dawn until lying down at night: selfishness, selfishness. What is the reason the country today has fallen into so many kinds of trouble? Selfishness and self-interest alone! Selfishness is necessary. Self-interest too is necessary. But na kriyā niyamaṃ vinā. This selfishness too must stay within some limit. Divinity, even, does not show itself in man at all. Man is not trying to live even as man. If man lives as man, that itself is true humanness.
What you keep saying is there, is not; what you keep saying is not, is there. What is, is God alone, for all time; this world has become what is not; see it!
The whole world is contained in divinity. The world is not separate. Viśvaṃ viṣṇumayaṃ jagat. Sarvaṃ khalvidaṃ brahma. Īśāvāsyam idaṃ sarvam.
