In plain words
Like a pension. For this, students must make a fitting effort. So whatever anyone may say, along with your studies you must follow spiritual learning too. A one-wheeled cycle is a danger at any time. Even a two-wheeled vehicle is dangerous. Will a one-wheeled cycle not cause an accident? No bird flies into the sky with one wing. Only when both wings are sound does it make the journey through the sky. So for man:
to be happy here, the learning that wins gold; to be happy hereafter, Brahmavidyā.
Learn the physical knowledge that belongs to this world. Study the spiritual learning too. We must lead our life resting on both of these.
Students! Do not waste all your time on what is merely physical and worldly. For some of your time, make good the blessed and divine feeling that is the goal of your life. Only when such students grow in the world will the land of Bhārata enjoy its ancient culture again, shining bright and laughing merrily. To protect the country, the person or society, no one but God has the power; others have no chance at all. So develop that divine power. That divine power is not something you nourished. It is not something you earned. It is a natural power. This itself is your divine principle. That is why our scriptures of Vedānta went on teaching the truth that one and the same divinity is in all: ‘eko vasi sarvabhūtāntarātmā’. First of all, students must root out Ahaṅkāra. They must grow in humility and obedience. We must listen calmly to what elders say and enter into it in the right way. Ahaṅkāra itself makes man blind. So we must give no room to Ahaṅkāra. Students! Hoping that of what you have learned over these fourteen days you will keep even some small part in your hearts, put it into practice and so offer a fitting ideal, and blessing you, I bring my talk to a close.
